How We Spent Summer 2026

With school back in full swing and football season kicking off, it’s time to celebrate the end of summer with a look back at what the Prism team has been up to over the last few months!

We should all take a page from Maranda’s book and remember to try new things. Even though she’s never played, Maranda joined a coed beach volleyball league this summer and had a ton of fun learning and playing.

Darlene’s summer of two family weddings (one of them being her daughter!) and an annual beach trip left her and her husband enjoying the calm and quiet of an empty nest as her son headed back to La Tech last week.

Taking the cake for Furthest Traveled, Jimmy snuck in two trips across the pond, one with his wife to Italy and the next to Cannes, France for a wedding. Like the rest of us, he kept busy with work but managed to get in some quality time with his almost two-year-old grandson and now looks forward to hunting season!

Continuing the grandparent trend, Connie’s summer highlights include visiting her newest grandchild in Dallas, hosting her other out-of-town grandchildren for a week while their parents traveled, and getting to see her three local grandchildren weekly. Coco was busy!

As the mom of Connie and Alan’s latest grandchild, Emily and her husband hosted several grandparent visitors from both sides before taking their five-month-old on the road for her first vacation! Her summer highlight was hiking in Beaver’s Bend State Park with her baby on her back and dogs by her side.

In more big life-changing news, Teri headed home from Perdido Key with a golden tan and an engagement ring! She was a happy daughter to celebrate Father’s Day on the river boatin’ with her Dad, then got to be a proud mom and watch her daughter, Julia, get her MBA from Tulane after years of night school while working full-time!

We’re voting Monika for Best Summer Photo with her dance move on a cliff in Sedona, AZ. After soaking in the views, she later celebrated her 20-year high school reunion with former classmates from St. Joseph’s Academy.

Joe’s favorite summer memory was his annual dove hunt near Uvalde, TX where, unfortunately for him but fortunately for the doves, he didn’t shoot too many! He still enjoyed some swim time, cookouts, and football watching with the guys and volunteered to take home the extra “Flying Filet Mignon.”

Alan started the summer with a brand new… knee! After a lifetime of skiing, running, raising kids, and, well, just living, he decided it was time for a trade-in and is enjoying reduced pain on his new bionic joint. After getting the all-clear from his surgeon, it was back to the pool to play “Shamu” with his grandkids and return to his mornings of F45 and lap swimming at the Y.

The countdown to cooler weather is on here in the south, but we’re grateful for another summer in the books and hope yours was as memorable as ours. We look forward to seeing you in sweaters and coats in the coming days and wish you a Happy Fall… soon enough!
